Although the original text was in more complex terms, in this article, I will share my personal Think and Grow Rich summary and takeaways in simple terms that still give accurate knowledge.

For a bit of background before the summary, Think and Grow Rich was first published in 1937. The Think and Grow Rich principles are for anyone looking to improve their life. While the text is specific to financial success, the principles outlined in the book can be used to achieve success in all aspects of life.

The book is divided into separate chapters, each one covering one of the 13 Think and Grow Rich principles to pursue greatness in life but I will be sharing the five that stood out for me;

PRINCIPLES 1: Think Success by Default

The power of thought is that whatever you believe, you experience. Although many people don’t exercise their ability to manage their thoughts, we all have it. You can achieve your goals or become wealthy if you learn to control this strength.

To become wealthy, one must develop success consciousness rather than failure consciousness.

  • Start by concentrating your thoughts on a single, well-defined goal rather than several goals that would distract you. Choose just one overarching life objective.
  • Make reaching this objective your only motivation, to the extent that you think about nothing else and focus all of your time and energy on doing so.
  • Keep working toward your one objective or goal.

PRINCIPLE 2: Have a Burning Desire for Success

The first step and foundation to wealth generation is to have a burning desire to realize your specified objective or definite purpose. Hopes or wishes alone are insufficient; to get what you desire, you must want it.

You must be so driven to succeed that you are willing to put everything on the line, burn your bridges, and leave yourself with no way to turn back.

PRINCIPLE 3: Keep Your Faith Firm

Another essential component of Think and Get Rich is faith or belief. Faith helps transform our thoughts into reality. You can advance toward your goal by using faith, which operates subconsciously.

If you believe in yourself and your objectives to become wealthy, it will inspire thoughts and connections that help you succeed.

Yet, if you lack faith and think otherwise, you will fail. As a result, it’s crucial to cultivate faith to push yourself forward and motivate others to join you in your endeavors.

Principles 4: Specialized Knowledge

To make better decisions and accomplish your goals, you must have knowledge.

The Think and Get Rich book distinguishes between two categories of knowledge: general and specialized. Colleges offer general education, but frequently this education lacks applications in the real world. The type of information you require to become wealthy is specialized and unique to the business or venture you have decided to pursue as your career. This is why earning a college degree isn’t a guarantee that you’ll succeed in your profession; formal education should only be seen as the start of learning.

Determine what kind of specialized expertise you require and why you need it to move forward with implementing the ideas from Think and Get Rich.

Principles 5: Organized Planning

Another essential component of Think and Get Rich is organized planning, because a man without a plan is like a ship without a compass. To transform your desires into success, you must have practical plans through which the transformation can be made.

If your first plan doesn’t work, switch to another one. Replace it in turns with another one until you find a plan that aligns with your dream.
